How to Prep Your Skin for Winter

How to Prep Your Skin for Winter

As the cold winter season approaches, it’s crucial to take proactive steps to ensure your skin stays hydrated, supple, and radiant. At LH Spa & Rejuvenation, we provide a range of facial treatments designed to combat the effects of winter weather, including their Hydration Recovery Facial and Luminosity Facial. These facials can help you tackle winter skin issues by providing deep hydration and a boost of radiance, keeping your skin looking healthy even in the harshest conditions.

Why Winter Wreaks Havoc on Your Skin

During winter, the air becomes dry, both outside and indoors due to heating systems. This drastic reduction in humidity causes your skin to lose moisture, making it susceptible to dryness, flakiness, and irritation. The drop in temperatures and exposure to wind can also strip your skin of its natural oils, leaving it more vulnerable. Therefore, prepping your skin ahead of the season and incorporating specific treatments can be a game changer.

Essential Winter Skincare Tips

1. Deep Hydration is Key

One of the most effective ways to keep your skin hydrated throughout winter is to invest in a facial treatment specifically designed to replenish moisture. LH Spa & Rejuvenation’s Hydration Recovery Facial is an excellent choice, as it focuses on restoring the skin’s moisture balance. This treatment uses advanced marine biotechnology to deliver lasting hydration, which is essential to maintaining skin elasticity and preventing the discomfort associated with dry, flaky skin.

In addition to professional treatments, use a deeply hydrating serum or essence containing hyaluronic acid, which helps the skin retain moisture. Applying these products while your skin is still damp can lock in hydration and ensure your skin stays soft and smooth.

2. Restore and Maintain Your Skin’s Glow

Cold weather can often lead to a dull complexion. The Luminosity Facial at LH Spa & Rejuvenation targets this issue by using Hydra-needling technology, which enhances skin brightness and improves texture. This facial also incorporates vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that not only protects the skin from environmental damage but also boosts collagen production for a healthy, youthful glow. By regularly incorporating a brightening facial like this into your winter skincare routine, you can maintain a luminous complexion even when the weather is dull.

Aside from facials, consider adding a brightening serum or cream to your daily regimen. Products with ingredients like vitamin C, niacinamide, or licorice root can work wonders in restoring radiance.

3. Don’t Neglect Exfoliation

Regular exfoliation is crucial during the winter months as dead skin cells can accumulate quickly, making it harder for moisturizers and other treatments to penetrate. By removing these dead cells, you can ensure that your skin remains fresh and capable of absorbing all the hydrating products you apply. The Luminosity Facial also addresses exfoliation needs by incorporating gentle resurfacing techniques, which aid in removing buildup without causing irritation.

For at-home care, opt for a mild exfoliant with ingredients like lactic acid or fruit enzymes, which are gentle enough for winter but effective in keeping your skin smooth.

4. Upgrade Your Moisturizer

As the weather changes, so should your skincare products. Winter calls for a richer, more emollient moisturizer to protect your skin from harsh conditions. Look for ingredients like ceramides, which help restore the skin’s barrier, or oils like jojoba and squalane that lock in moisture. Apply moisturizer twice daily and consider layering it with a face oil for added nourishment.

5. Keep Using Sunscreen

Many people skip sunscreen in winter, but UV rays can still cause damage even on cloudy or snowy days. Opt for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and apply it daily as the final step in your morning routine. This step is crucial for preventing premature aging and protecting the skin’s natural barrier, which is especially vulnerable during winter.
